Its really your preference. Using a Chromecast gives you the ability to upgrade/update things change. With a smart TV you are locked into whatever hardware/OS is included with the Smart TV. Should be no issue using both if you like the smart TV for certain aspects, but Chromecast for others.

If your smart TV already supports Google Cast, then there are no benefits; the Chromecast is redundant. If your smart TV does not support Google Cast though, then a Chromecast will add that feature to your TV.
